From Vision to Action: TEDDY Network Supports Stronger European Union Commitment to Paediatric Research

On 4 June 2026, the event Children in the Current EU Health Policy: Advancing Paediatric Research and Prevention Across Europe was held at the European Parliament in Brussels, bringing together researchers, clinicians, policymakers, industry representatives, and patient advocates to discuss the future of child health research in Europe.

The meeting highlighted the need for stronger investment in paediatric research and prevention, recognizing that children continue to face unique healthcare challenges that require dedicated scientific, clinical, and policy attention. Participants explored opportunities to strengthen innovation, improve prevention strategies, and support evidence-based interventions tailored specifically to children’s health needs.

Key objectives of the event included raising awareness of paediatric research priorities across Europe, identifying areas requiring targeted investment, promoting collaboration among stakeholders, and advocating for dedicated funding for paediatric research within the next European research framework programme, FP10. Discussions also emphasized the importance of developing paediatric clinical trial infrastructure, facilitating data sharing, and supporting child-specific innovation in areas such as environmental health, medical devices, and digital health.

TEDDY Network was represented by Piotr Socha, Member of the TEDDY Network Board and Deputy Director for Research and Education at the Children’s Memorial Health Institute (CMHI), Poland. Prof. Socha participated in the second panel discussion, “From Vision to Action – Building the FP10 Paediatric Research Agenda,” which focused on translating identified challenges into concrete policy and funding actions for the next EU research programme.

TEDDY Network welcomes the growing recognition of paediatric research within the European policy agenda and remains committed to supporting collaborative research, regulatory science, and innovation that advance the health and well-being of children throughout Europe.
