General Information
While gabapentin is widely used by paediatric pain specialists with positive results, it has not been formally approved for paediatric use, and no age-appropriate formulation exists across the full paediatric age range. The European Medicines Agency (EMA), Europe’s medicines regulator, has formally recognised the need for regulatory approval of gabapentin in paediatric use.
The GAPP Study is conducted by an international consortium of paediatric hospitals and research institutions across France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, and Poland. Eligible participants include young people under 18 years with moderate to severe chronic pain.
