TEDDY Network and the TEDDY KIDS Network Join Biotech Week 2026
Biotech Week 2026, the annual initiative dedicated to biotechnology and biosolutions, returns for its 14th edition.
In Italy, the initiative is promoted and coordinated by Assobiotec and involves institutions, companies, research centers, and schools in a wide range of events aimed at bringing the world of biotechnology closer to the public, especially younger generations. For more information, visit the Assobiotec website at the following LINK.
In 2025, TEDDY participated in Biotech Week with the session titled “The Active Role of TEDDY KIDS in European Paediatric Research”, focusing on the role of biotechnology in the medical field. To learn more, visit our dedicated page HERE
As part of this initiative, TEDDY Network will organise a dedicated Biotech Week satellite event in the session titled:
“Raising Awareness: The TEDDY KIDS Way”
📅 19 September 2026
📍 Aula Leogrande, ex-Palazzo Poste, University of Bari, Italy
TEDDY, together with TEDDY KIDS Network and Working Group on Children Engagement and Advocacy organise the two-hour interactive session will highlight the importance of engaging children and young people in biotechnology and paediatric research.
The TEDDY KIDS Network brings together several Young Persons’ Advisory Groups (YPAGs) from across Europe, providing opportunities for children and adolescents to actively contribute to research from basic science to clinical studies. By ensuring that their perspectives are heard and valued, the TEDDY KIDS Network promotes meaningful involvement of young people throughout the research process.
During the event, researchers, experts, and healthcare professionals will engage directly with young participants to explore the role of biotechnology in paediatric health, discuss current advances in research, and demonstrate how young people can actively contribute to scientific innovation and healthcare decision-making.
The second part of the session will feature an interactive quiz led by members of the TEDDY KIDS Network. Using a dedicated online platform, participants will test their knowledge on topics including biotechnology, rare diseases, clinical research, patients’ rights, and the active participation of children and young people in decisions affecting their health. Designed as an engaging and educational activity, the quiz aims to increase awareness while promoting TEDDY’s participatory, inclusive, and empowering approach to patient engagement.
Through this initiative, TEDDY Network is proud to contribute to Biotech Week 2026 by fostering scientific awareness, encouraging dialogue between experts and young people, and promoting the active involvement of children and adolescents in paediatric research.
