TEDDY Network joins to Discuss Emerging Paediatric Clinical Trial Standards and Global Best Practices
The TEDDY Network is delighted to highlight its involvement in the upcoming EPTRI webinar: “CONSORT- and SPIRIT-Children: Reflections on Emerging Guidelines for Paediatric Clinical Trials”, scheduled for 9th April 2026 (2.30–4.00 pm CET) via Zoom.
This interactive workshop and discussion will bring together the authors of the new SPIRIT-C and CONSORT-C reporting standards, alongside paediatric trialists and patient organisation representatives. These guidelines are the first to introduce paediatric-specific standards for randomised controlled trial protocols and reports involving children and adolescents aged 0–19 years.
They address critical aspects of paediatric research, including:
- The scientific rationale for conducting trials in children
- Age-appropriate consent and assent
- Developmental differences in treatment effects
- The impact of trial participation on children’s daily lives
Developed collaboratively with paediatric trialists, methodologists, journal editors, young people, and family caregivers, the guidelines aim to:
- Strengthen the paediatric evidence base
- Improve research transparency and quality
- Reduce research waste
TEDDY Network’s contribution is represented by Giorgio Reggiardo, coordinator of the TEDDY Working Group on Paediatric Research Methodologies and member of the TEDDY Board of Directors. He plays a central role in this global effort, representing TEDDY Network in shaping and disseminating these emerging standards. The content presented in the webinar has been developed by a team of international experts, including Giorgio Reggiardo, ensuring that TEDDY Network’s expertise is integrated into discussions on improving paediatric research methodology worldwide.
