International Clinical Trials Day 2020

International Clinical Trials Day 2020

International Clinical Trials Day is held on 20 May each year since 2005 to commemorate the day that James Lind began his famous trial for the scurvy. The objective is to make this moment a focal point for international communication events, meetings, debates, and celebrations of clinical research.

This year, in occasion of the event, the communication team of conect4children (collaborative network for European clinical trials for children) (c4c) shared a brief presentation (avaliable here) on why paediatric clinical trials are essential to ensuring children receive appropriate, safe and effective treatment and care, and how #conect4children is addressing the complexities and challenges this entails.

The data presented in the flyer have been sourced by Report from the Commission to the European Parliament and the Council COM(2017) 626 “State of Paediatric Medicines in the EU – 10 years of the EU Paediatric Regulation and by European Paediatric Medicines Database (EPMD) Report 2018 managed by TEDDY European Network of Excellence for Paediatric Research.

European Paediatric Medicines Database was set up by TEDDY in 2007 with the aim of creating a harmonised, integrated and reliable pan-European source of information.

The data stored in this database is the basis for examining the ‘state of the art’ of paediatric innovative medicines licensed by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) from October 1995.
