A new course on imaging and histology of mice models offered by INFRAFRONTIER will take place in Barcelona and Prague

INFRAFONTIER Research Infrastructure will organize a course to deepen the knowledge about the morphological and anatomical aspects of mice models.

The course will consist in two modules: the first one devoted to the anatomy and imaging will be held in Barcelona on 18th-23th June 2018, the second module will be dedicated to the histology and will be taught in Prague on 3th-6th September 2018.

The aim of the course is to capacitate participants for interpreting mouse anatomy, histology and imaging and to provide them the essential knowledge to understand similarities and differences with human. Human and mouse have similar anatomical complexity and mouse-based studies is essential for Precision Medicine. However, the level of morphological knowledge is lower in mice than in men. An accurate interpretation of Precision Medicine mouse models requires a considerable degree of knowledge in mouse anatomy, histology and imaging, as well as their comparison with human. This course intends to provide this information, alternating lectures with practical sessions in which participants will dissect specifically the different organs of the mouse body and will work with bone and dissected specimens, radiographs, and images from TEM (Transmission electron microscopy), micro-CT and MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging), both form mouse and human.

The INFRAFRONTIER Research Infrastructure has currently 23 scientific partners from 15 European countries and Canada and aims to provide the biomedical research community with the tools needed to unravel the role of gene function in human disease. INFRAFRONTIER provides access to mouse models, data and scientific platform and services to study the functional role of genome in human health and disease.
