Session Details: The Active Role of TEDDY KIDS in European Paediatric Research
Date and Time: September 19, 2026, from 18:00 to 20:00
Format: in person @ Aula Leogrande, ex-Palazzo Poste
Università degli Studi di Bari, Italy
Area: Biotechnology for Health
Type: Educational outreach event
Event Description
The TEDDY KIDS Network comprises several Young Persons’ Advisory Groups across Europe, with a focus on paediatric health. These groups aim to actively involve children and young people in everything from basic research to clinical research, ensuring that their views and perspectives are heard and valued at every stage of the process.
During the event, researchers, experts and healthcare professionals will engage with young people, informing them and raising their awareness of the importance of biotechnology and the vital role that the younger generation can play in paediatric research. In the second part of this session, young people from the TEDDY KIDS Network will host a quiz focusing on topics such as rare diseases, clinical research, patients’ rights and their active participation in decision-making processes relating to their own health. A dedicated online platform will be used, which participants can access via a specific QR code. Contestants will answer a series of questions, giving them the chance to assess their own level of knowledge and learn in an indirect and enjoyable way. The aim is to promote and raise the profile of our awareness-raising model, which is based on participatory, inclusive and stimulating practices.
