TEDDY contributes to the Future of Pediatric Healthcare Innovation
The 2025 Pediatric Healthcare Innovation Summit, taking place on November 5-6 in Atlanta, Georgia, is set to be a pivotal event for global leaders in paediatric healthcare. Organized by the International Society for Pediatric Innovation (iSPI), the Georgia Institute of Technology (GT), and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-funded Pediatric Device Consortia (PDC), this summit will bring together experts and stakeholders to tackle the most urgent challenges in paediatric healthcare innovation. At the following LINK, you can find the full program with the agenda.
Day 1 of the summit will be held at the Portal Innovations in Science Square and will include the 3rd Annual GT Innovation Day & Showcase. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with expert panels led by the leadership of the PDC, as well as witness the presentation of three $25,000 awards designed to support the development of innovative paediatric devices. Additionally, the iSPI Interactive Workshops will provide valuable insights into critical topics such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Healthcare, Human-Centered Design Thinking for Healthcare Leadership, and Pediatric Marketplace (PedsMRKT), exploring emerging trends in paediatric healthcare marketing. The day will conclude with a tour of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA) and an evening reception for networking opportunities.
Day 2 will take place at the Academy of Medicine at Georgia Tech, where attendees will engage with expert panels discussing the latest innovations in paediatrics. Regulatory updates and pathways to market for new technologies will also be covered, providing essential information for those working to bring innovations to the healthcare sector. The day will end with interactive sessions, fostering networking between paediatric hospital executives, industry leaders, and other healthcare innovators.
TEDDY is proud to participate, among the event’s leading sponsors, reaffirming its commitment to advancing innovation in paediatric care. By supporting the Summit, TEDDY is helping to shape the next wave of solutions aimed at improving healthcare for children, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between industry, research, and paediatric hospitals.
TEDDY is a member of the European Paediatric Transnational Research Infrastructure (EPTRI). EPTRI provides integrated services through Thematic Research Platforms (TRPs), one of these platforms, the Paediatric Medical Devices (MD) TRP, focuses on advancing the development and accessibility of medical devices tailored for children. The platform offers various services, including patient-centric prototype development and analysis, pre-clinical testing, safety assessments, usability studies, as well as improving biocompatibility, mechanical performance, clinical validation and technology transfer and exploitation, including regulatory advice of paediatric devices.
A key initiative under this framework is the OrphaDev4Kids (OD4K) project, a three-year collaboration aimed at addressing the lack of orphan medical devices for children. This project brings together a multidisciplinary consortium of nine partners from across Europe, including TEDDY and EPTRI. On 15 March 2025, the kick-off meeting of the Patient Expert Committee (PEC) of the OrphaDev4Kids project was held in Bologna, fostering open dialogue about the development of orphan medical devices for the paediatric population. During this meeting, the PEC played a critical role in reviewing a survey focused on Cyanotic Congenital Heart Disease (CCHD) patients, which was part of Work Package 3 of the OD4K project. A preliminary version of the survey was shared with the PEC to gather feedback and ensure that the questions accurately reflected the perspectives of young people and patients before it was finalized and distributed.
