The importance of involving young people in research
TEDDY Network promotes the active involvement of children and young patients in clinical research decision-making through empowerment and advocacy initiatives. A dedicated working group on Children’s Empowerment and Engagement has been established within TEDDY, supporting educational initiatives focused on children and young patients to give them deep knowledge and expertise on how to interact in decisions concerning their medical care.
TEDDY WG on Children Empowerment and Engagement oversees and supports the TEDDY KIDS Network, an inclusive network that brings together individual YPAGs (Young Patient Advisory Groups) from across Europe, all focused on paediatric health. TEDDY has established several YPAGs since 2017 and continues to actively promote the creation of new KIDS groups across Europe managing scheduled activities within projects, and encouraging youth participation in initiatives such as the annual International Children’s Advisory Network (iCAN). Today, The TEDDY KIDS Network includes the following YPAG groups: KIDS Albania, KIDS Bari, KIDS Umbria, KIDS Kosova, KIDS rare Hellas, KIDS Warsaw, Eye YPAG London, RAiN Ireland, ANDO Portugal.
The TEDDY KIDS Network warmly welcomes all young people interested in contributing, whether by helping to create new YPAGs or by joining existing groups. The participation of new members, along with their ideas, perspectives, and feedback, is essential for enriching the network, driving change, and shaping a better future for paediatric health .
